The Library of Broumov
Annotation
The Broumov library building is located near the Benedictine monastery, on the site of the former church of St. Lawrence, whose shape is also inspired by its front part. This all-concrete structure is meant to resemble stone with its folds on the facade, which refers to the Broumovské rocks, especially marl, which is found in the Broumovské region. And the facade should have exactly the color of marl.
The three-story structure bites into the descending terrain, and the structure itself uses it to bounce off the floor at the back of the building. This results in the division of the space thanks to the different levels, but at the same time the space remains preserved as a whole.
