Zenklova, the sick place

Monika Šimková

Annotation

Zenklova Street is an important link between the upper and lower parts of Prague 8 in the urban planning of the city. Today it is subordinate to transit. Zenklova is impassable, broken and somewhat leaky, but it also has picturesqueness. Zenklova is a place where the village meets the city, the scales mix. Houses bounce along the street. Block houses meet the low-rise construction of family houses. Its streets make their way through the terrain. They create views, somewhere further - to Prague. I am proposing a development on Zenklova - although I do not sence it as a patch. I complete the blocks, I keep the closed yards closed, but here and there I strategically add free spaces. In new urbanism, I create passages through gardens. I'm creating loopholes somewhere, so you can look in.
