The Edge

The central idea of the design is the motif of the edge, which recalls the mining history of the heap and at the same time invites to play and ‘play on’ through the play on words in czech. The intention is to revive a place that has remained forgotten, struggling with a difficult story and abandoned in recent decades. We bring the edge into the space in the form of a crack that winds through the main path that connects the centre of Kladno with the Na Vyhaslém housing estate and the forest, a place of recreation. The confrontation with crossing the crack in the concrete path is an invitation to reflect on how man uses the landscape and what its consequences are. The path connects spaces for play, which is also encouraged by other, small elements.
