The Infill House on the Square

Annotation
Once the vibrant heart of the city, the quiet square now slowly awakens through a design that brings back the genius loci and restores urban continuity. The new infill introduces a residential building with a market and small-scale services in the ground floor, naturally reviving the public realm and reintroducing everyday movement and social rituals. The building’s massing draws from the logic of 19th-century urban fabric—its main volume is sensitively articulated and complemented by lower wings echoing former rear structures, breaking down the scale and enriching the form. The façade facing the square, composed as three houses, gently recalls the memory of the original buildings and, through a clear material expression, returns clarity, humanity, and a humble presence to the place.
