In AMD at FA ČVUT, we worked throughout the year on assignments inspired by Bauhaus traditions. We focused on working with various materials, mainly through manual techniques, while also gaining hands-on experience with the workshop’s machinery. In the winter semester, we created two spatulas from hardwood – one by hand and the other using machines. Their functionality was tested by modeling an enlarged paint tube from clay, followed by a plaster cast and patination. In the summer semester, we worked with a personal monogram (BB), which we translated into various materials: a clay relief later cast in plaster, vacuum-formed plastic, laser-cut cardboard, layered wooden boards, shaped steel sheet, and finally, iron wire.
