Sleeping Wrecks

The enclosed space once used by humans remained untouched ever since. Beyond the boundary of the area and the town of Kladno, nature is awakening—having already covered the traces of mining and reshaped the site in its own image. The morphology of the place served as inspiration for our design, in which we emphasized its features and created in harmony with them. Thanks to the proposed elements, the site will serve for rest, recreation, and passage—without creating the impression of boundaries separating it from nature. The wooded areas carry a cooling, tranquil atmosphere, while the open, sunlit spots offer glimpses into the broader surroundings. The site communicates with them through dominant features or narrow sightlines that can be perceived only from specific vantage points.
