ZAN projects

Annotation

“Prison!” once stood on the walls of the old garages. Today a new space is taking shape where a detached building once stood. A terrace naturally follows the terrain and is framed by blocks of student housing from recycled containers. On the broad stairs, people share the joys and struggles of everyday life, while music from an underground club rises softly from below. And why containers? They have a metal heart – just like the garages that came before. Upcycled, they reflect the core idea of the project: making the most out of the minimum. What’s emerging is a layered public space that brings new life to a place long silent. Because “A good place is like a party – people stay when they’re having a good time.” (Jan Gehl)
