DOUBLE HOUSE FOR ASTRONOMER AND PHOTOGRAPHER

Polina Kuleshova

Annotation

The house is located on a sloping plot of land in Prague Petřiny, here it communicates with the astronomer's house through a connecting corridor, symbolizing the connection between science and art. The building reacts naturally to the terrain and creates interesting spatial relationships between the individual parts, divided into two main masses - the studio and the living area, which are connected by an overhead bridge. The dominant feature of the building is a large strip window that transitions from the roof to the façade. The living area contains a kitchen, bedroom and a small lounge area, while the studio includes a work space, a darkroom and a small exhibition area. The design combins intimacy with openness, light with mass and function with inspiration.
