In the AMD Studio, thematically linked exercises were commissioned during the year, focusing on the combination of manual and mechanical processing of various materials. In the winter term we created a pair of hardwood spatulas - one using traditional hand methods, the other using machines. This was followed by modelling an enlarged paint tube in sculptural clay to test the functionality of the spatulas. A plaster cast was then made from the model, on which we tested the basics of patination. In the summer term, the main focus was the development of a personal monogram. The first step was its graphic composition from paper, followed by tasks using plaster, HPS plates, laser cut cardboard, plywood, steel plate and iron wire. The aim was to try the transition from surface to space.
