SEMI-DETACHED HOUSE FOR BOTANIST AND BEEKEEPER

Adam Neugebauer

Annotation

The double house for a beekeeper and a botanist offers a symbiosis of the two careers while allowing separate living. Meanwhile the lower levels hold separate spaces for the two, a workshop, and a greenhouse, the roof hosts a shared space with the beekeeper’s hives and the botanist’s flora, where the process of pollination and honey production takes place. It is also where the honey is processed and stored. The two-story flats share a terrace and a balcony walkway. Each apartment is accessed via a bridge spanning the sloped terrain in Prague’s Petřiny. The beekeeper’s bridge takes the public into the workshop and educational center, where they get to learn about the importance of bees. The building’s reinforced concrete frame reflects the close connection between the two professions.
