Jan Kaplický beehive

The beehive for Jan Kaplicky's villa "Dvořákova vila na Dobešce" is situated on the southeastern side of the roof. Inspired by a particular period of Kaplicky's life which he has spent devising projects for NASA with his studio "FUTURE SYSTEMS", this hive's design resembles the silhouette of a spaceship. The beehive is indented from the ground by a light construction and its shell is made of a single piece of stainless steel sheet, bent and riveted into this specific sci-fi shape. Imitating space technology. My design is created to involve the simplest way of construction while satisfying the function.
