Gallery for Petr Sís

Petr Sís is a Czech artist, graphic designer, author and illustrator of literature for children. Beside his illustrations he is also known for his tapiseries or the mosaic in newyork subway. Although he spent most of his life in the USA, he still has a strong bond with his native country. The gallery is situated in Kokořínsko (Sís’s favourite region), coming out of the sandstone rocks typical for this area. The Gallery is designed in raumplan. The indirect light that comes to the gallery through highly placed windows gives the gallery a peaceful atmosphere. The divided spaces create a dreamy environment which corresponds with the temper of Sís’s art.
