International recognition of quality from IFLA Europe for landscape architecture at FA

The Department of Landscape Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague has received IFLA Europe Recognition for its Landscape Architecture study program for the period 2025–2030. This is the result of an assessment process that takes into account the highest professional standards defined in the IFLA/UNESCO Charter for Education in Landscape Architecture and European Addenda.

IFLA Europe (European Region of the International Federation of Landscape Architects) is a professional organization representing national associations of landscape architects across Europe. It brings together more than 30 member countries and aims to promote high standards of education, professional ethics, research, and awareness in the field of landscape architecture and to promote a comprehensive approach to the landscape. IFLA Europe-accredited programs are offered, for example, at TU Delft, the University of Edinburgh, Hochschule Weihenstephan-Triesdorf, and École nationale supérieure de paysage in Versailles.

"Obtaining IFLA Europe accreditation is primarily the result of many years of effort by the faculty of the Department of Landscape Architecture to create a high-quality, contemporary study program. At the same time, it confirms the growing importance of landscape architecture education for the entire faculty—the FA management therefore deserves thanks for its support, not only in preparing this application," says Zuzana Štemberová, head of the Department of Landscape Architecture, who prepared the documentation for certification. She also thanked Eva Jeníková, Klára Salzmann, and Radmila Fingerová for their cooperation.

IFLA Europe certification confirms that landscape architecture education at FA meets the highest European standards. It strengthens the competitiveness of graduates, who can more easily find employment not only at home but also abroad. At the same time, it supports the faculty's international partnerships and opens up new opportunities for involvement in research and educational projects. The expert report of the evaluation panel also contains recommendations for further development, for example in the area of foreign internships and the presentation of student outputs, which can serve as an impetus for further improvement of the quality of study.
