VISITING #01: Dirk Somers – How to be a Happy Architect
New visiting professor at the Faculty of Architecture CTU Dirk Somers, founder of the Antwerp-based studio Bovenbouw Architectuur, will open the VISITING lecture series, introducing international architects, landscape architects and designers teaching at the Faculty.
The lecture How to be a Happy Architect presents the practice of Bovenbouw Architectuur through various projects. Three “happy” characters illustrate different approaches: the bricoleur, the eclecticist and the mannerist. Through these figures, Dirk Somers shows how being a happy architect is about finding survival techniques that are both rooted in history and significant for contemporary building culture.
