INDUSTRY IN CONTEMPORARY CITY

This diploma thesis analyzes possibilities of revitalization of brownfields utilizing the method of renewal of their original, primary function - production. The output is a case study in the developing area near the Palmovka junction, area that is currently urbanistically problematic, defined by uncoordinated plans of mostly solitary nature and infrastructure projects of non-urban scale. A data center - a typology in architecture so far neglected, and expelled from the inner zone of cities, but bearing a huge symbolic outlook to the infrastructure and metastructure of municipalities, and the potential for new innovative projects, educational facilities, laboratories - was designed as a new object helping to establish the urban structure and the role of the site, with the possibility of bringing along archives, offices, and other public functions.
