HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ - REDEFINITION OF THE URBAN STRUCTURE

The assignment of the diploma project is the design of a new city district surrounding the northern part of a city ring road. This road is currently oversaturated with traffic, which creates a barrier in the wider centre. In near future, when the motorways and bypasses are finished, the transit traffic will leave the city centre to residents only. The project explores the possibilities of transforming the city ring road into a boulevard surrounded by a dense urban fabric. In the specific context of Hradec Králové the project reflects the recent problems of all major Czech cities.
