Community Center Kořenov

The project is about getting people back into small mountain towns in the north of the Czech republic, preferably by train and giving back the fame that the railway stations once had. The building site is located in the area of the railway station in Kořenov. The site is in a slope, so the building reacts to that - it is set in it. It has one underground floor and three floors above the ground. The underground floor is mainly for technical rooms and storage, on the first floor there is a part for offices and on the other part there is a smaller hall and a café that can open to the outside piazzeta. The other floors hold open spaces for workshops, teambuildings, shows, discussions and other creative activities for school children, locals and also tourists. The construction materials are concrete walls and ceilings and wooden truss for the roof. The mass is compact and simple, without any complicated details because of the rough weather conditions throughout the year.
