REVITALISATION OF THE VOLYŇKA RIVER VALLEY IN VIMPERK

The passage of the first class road through the valley of the Volyňka River is a non-healing wound stretching across the city. The road, which bisects and divides the town into two similarly sized parts, has gradually created a bleak and uninviting space around it from which the surrounding town continues to pull away. The otherwise picturesque Volynka River has been withdrawn by the town in regulated channels and in places disappears amongst dilapidated buildings and encroachments of wild trees.
