Saint Lambertus Church

Annotation

The town on Maren-Kessel was founded shortly after the Second World War, during which the original towns of Maren and Kessel were destroyed. The Saint Lambertus Church was the first building built in the centre of the new community, visible from all surrounding streets with a public space around it. Today the building is slowly disappearing in its surroundings. My goal was to put the church back into the town's structure and to the minds of local people not only as a religious building but also as a place for community. The extension of the church reacts to the existing structure as it works in the same principle and module, but unlike the original concrete massive one, the new structure is made out of steel, light and airy.

my key experience from erasmus

Studying at the Technical University in Eindhoven gave me the opportunity to try a new approach to presenting my projects. Much less attention was given to the perfection of the final outputs, such as visualizations and models, and on the contrary, much more attention was given to the intelligibility and most importantly the ability to explain ideas to others.
