Annotation

Each time, revitalisation of an industrial quartier is a great challenge for any architect. Ile de Nantes, the formerly industrial part of the city, is now being slowly retransformed. Our design is trying to preserve the historic feeling of the neighborhood while at the same time leaving space for future development. We wanted to continue with repurposing the former factory buildings into cultural spaces, as was already done before. We tried to respect the already existing elements and include them into our design.

my key experience from erasmus

What affected me the most was the difference in the way of thinking. For the first semester, the most significant were the cultural differences that I encountered in everyday life. The French way of living is very different, the French are free thinkers, they never hurry anywhere, the always have enough time for everything. That affected the style of teaching at school as well. In the second semester, the most significant event was of course the pandemy COVID19. Nobody really knew what to do and most of the Erasmus students traveled back to their home country. The school continued online. This was of course a shame, as the Erasmus experience includes adapting to new environment and new people.
