Rift : Mayrau Thermal Experience

The architecture echoes a miner’s daily rhythm: descent into darkness, intense labor, and reemergence into light. These transitions unfold through temperature, texture, light, sound, and spatial compression and release. Visitors move through a sequence of baths, saunas, and rest zones. Two sculptural, rock-like forms lean together, evoking underground forces. A ramp descends between them to a waterfall — a threshold for reflection. The stone façade darkens below and lightens above, mirroring the journey from toil to rest. In the landscape, suspended textiles recall miners’ changing rooms, casting shifting shadows on shallow water crossed by stepping stones. The space becomes both memorial and renewal.
