Annotation
A house as a machine? I propose an urban machine: a new home for the National Film Archive—cinema, library, and classrooms—all in one place. No longer scattered across Prague, but united, open to the public and professionals alike. A transparent ground floor with a gallery and café opens into the courtyard of the train station. Above it lies an educational center facing the historic station building. Rising further, a long linear volume houses the archive and library, weaving together public space and institutional function. The top floor offers views of Žižkov, open-air screenings, relaxation, and a good lemonade. Hidden underground are the cinema, archival repositories, and a darkroom. A new place for work, discovery, learning, and return.
