A New Beginning: Generational Courtyard Štěpánska

The project transforms an old city house on Štěpánská Street, just steps from Wenceslas Square. Originally residential, it is converted into an open space for multiple generations – children, parents, and seniors – centered around a shared courtyard. At the back, a new extension seamlessly connects to the original building and extends above it at the top floor, creating a natural fifth floor. The building includes senior apartments, a common room, two daycare groups, a small exercise room, and a rooftop garden. The original green facade with wooden portal is preserved, while the new volume continues the color scheme with green standing seam metal cladding. The ground floor is open to the public, with direct access from the street to the courtyard, café, and small shop.
