Podňadry nad Orlíkem

The project explores the possibilities of combining seemingly disparate principles into one coherent whole. Compositional rigor, axial logic and pragmatic street network refer to the human intervention that changed this landscape forever – to the ninety-meter concrete dam of the Orlická Dam. In this contrast of the naturalness of virgin nature and human power and influence, the tension of the design arises. Block development as a solid framework within which urban life takes place in various intensities – in squares, in parks, in loose residential areas or along the entire length of the bank. A spatial essay on the theme of landscape, technology and ordinariness. Proof that even on the edge between forest, concrete and water, a permanent structure can be created.
