Market bustle, library silence, children's laughter, night music from the Prádelna club. An enclave of life in Prague’s Strašnice – a base for living, education, sport, and culture. A mixed-use building replacing a decaying structure through reconstruction and reuse. A former panel housing experiment that never fully took hold, yet stands as a unique artifact. A singular urban composition and location, a clash of structures with a centripetal pull. Openness becomes the central theme. An articulated, yet open and permeable public space defines the focal point of both the building and its surroundings. This permeability is accentuated by lifting the southern wing – a building on stilts. Providing shelter, a framework for activity, and a connection to the street.
