ART GRID

Annotation

ART GRID is an architectural project designed for the site of Mayrau near Kladno, which is a mining museum. Its main idea is to create a living space that combines temporary housing with creative studios for artists, especially sculptors. Artists can rent the space, create there and exhibit their works in a nearby gallery. The architectural design is based on a 5 × 5 metre grid and consists of four masses connected by open pavilions. The structure is raised on piles, creating an active ground floor. The cladding of perforated sheet metal gives the building a uniform rhythm while filtering light into the interior spaces. ART GRID brings a contemporary perspective to community and creative living that responds to the needs of contemporary creatives and develops the cultural life of the site.
