Out of sight, out of mind. The City of Prague’s strategy for transitioning to a circular economy emphasizes public awareness. Achieving a 70% municipal waste sorting rate is unrealistic without halting or at least slowing the growth of municipal waste production. Would the share of unsorted waste that ends up irreversibly in landfills and incinerators decrease if those landfills and incinerators were right outside our windows? Isn’t the sight of the real impacts of our everyday decisions on the environment a more effective reminder than an information board?
