The river as an articulating element of the city, connecting the different layers of the city

The main objective of this project is the comprehensive reconstruction of the areas severely affected by the recent floods in the city of Ladek-Zdrozj. In response to this situation, an urban and landscape intervention is proposed to repair the damaged urban fabric and promote a resilient, sustainable transformation of both the natural and built environments. The proposal is grounded in recognizing the river not as a threat, but as a key structuring element of the urban landscape. Within this framework, a territorial regeneration model is proposed, based on the principles of blue-green infrastructure and the “sponge city” concept, integrating nature-based solutions to mitigate the risk of future flooding.
