TUNNEL TO VYŠEHRAD

Annotation
The aim of the design was to make Vyšehrad accessible from the southern part of the city and for mothers with children from the Podolská maternity hospital. The project is conceived as a tunnel that begins with an ellipse and ends with a circle. The result is a dynamic space that changes along its entire length. The main material here is brick. Since the entrance is through the walls, which are made of brick, the use of brick is contextual and appropriate. Another important element of the design is that the tunnel points to the southern tower of the Basilica of St. Peter and Paul. Thanks to the dynamic transformation of the space, the tunnel optically creates a kind of telescope and mentally shortens the path to the citadel.
