The prison cell at Na Zelené louce

BcA. Štěpán Šuster

Annotation

A cell design rooted in personal experience with the Czech prison system and shaped by consultations with experts from both the Czech Republic and Switzerland. The goal was to create a space that is functional, secure, and dignified—not comfortable, but thoughtfully designed. Upon arrival, each inmate assembles their own chair from provided parts and takes it with them upon release—an object symbolizing the first step toward reclaiming personal identity. Durable materials like concrete, stainless steel, and HI-MACS ensure resilience and easy maintenance. The design also reflects higher European standards, including a private shower in every cell.
