National library Letná

The library is located between blocks of houses, separating the space from the busy Milady Horáková Street and opening up to the park, which is located on the quieter side of the plot. The other side of the building offers a unique view of the castle, which gives the place a special character. The building is set back from the street line, creating a pleasant foreground. The regular square plan follows the two street lines that adjoin the plot. The main element of the library is the circulation core in the form of an open space running vertically through the whole house, which is complemented by staircases in various locations.
