RE:STRAHOV

The dormitory complex at Strahov requires a comprehensive modernization. The design responds to insufficient accommodation capacity, limited functional diversity, and low housing quality by combining the preservation of parts of the existing accommodation blocks with new development. The urban concept is based on two cross-shaped axes that intersect at a new square, with a centrally located canteen acting as the heart of the campus. The main street is supplemented by new buildings with active parterres, while the building height gradually increases towards the square, underlining its importance. The proposal also includes the integration of previously unused parts of the area towards Petřín, where sports facilities are relocated, thus freeing up space for new central development.
