Tetris
Annotation
Across the town of Vimperk, long rows of garages spread out. Many are neglected, occasionally used as storage, and cars are often parked beside them. Could these spaces be used more effectively?
Affordable housing for families with children is added above. The ground floor keeps its original garage function. The upper floors contain the residential space and the main entrance. Key elements include the use of recyclable materials and terrace trusses reused from the demolition of the nearby shopping center. The terraces allow longer outdoor stays in adverse weather and the trusses also serve as interactive structures for hanging a swing, hammock, or drying laundry. Privacy on the terraces can be adjusted with movable partitions. Housing units are stacked side by side, resembling Tetris.
