WITHOUT A TRACE
Annotation
THE CONCEPT OF THE EXHIBITION SPACE AT THE WATER TOWER IN ROUDNICE NAD LABEM IS BASED ON THE IDEA OF “UNCOMPROMISING NATURE.” THE WATER TOWER, ONCE USED TO SUPPLY STEAM LOCOMOTIVES WITH WATER, IS NOW NEGLECTED AND SURROUNDED BY UNKEMPT GREENERY. I PROPOSE TO CREATE A SPACE THAT HIGHLIGHTS HOW NATURE SLOWLY ENGULFS ABANDONED STRUCTURES. THIS EXHIBITION SPACE WILL SERVE AS A REMINDER OF NATURE'S POWER AND ITS ABILITY TO INTEGRATE HUMAN CREATIONS INTO ITS ECOSYSTEM. THE PASSAGE THROUGH THE BUILDING IS INTENDED AS A SCENIC CONTRAST EXPERIENCE. ONE IS “DRAWN IN” THROUGH AN EMPTY, DARK, NARROWING CORRIDOR TO EMERGE IN AN OPEN, HIGHER SPACE FULL OF GREENERY AND LIGHT. THIS CONTRAST REFLECTS THE ESSENCE OF NATURE, WHICH EMBODIES ORGANIC HARMONY AND UNCOMPROMISING FORCE.
