In the Studio of Modeling and Workshops, we worked with various materials over two semesters – wood, paper and metal. In the winter semester, we created wooden spatulas both by hand and using machines, and modeled a realistic enlarged paint tube from clay, which was then cast in plaster and patinated. In the summer semester, we worked with a personal monogram as both a graphic and spatial motif – from a paper collage through a relief, vacuum-formed plastic, layered wood, to shaped sheet metal and a wire composition. Emphasis was placed on craftsmanship, proportions, and the transformation of surface into space.
