In the Modeling Studio, several interrelated assignments were given throughout the year, focusing on working with various materials, primarily through manual craftsmanship, and on familiarizing students with the equipment in the FA CTU workshops. The initial assignment of the winter semester involved creating spatulas from hardwood – one made using hand tools and the other with the help of machines. The functionality of the spatula was tested during the second task, which was modeling a study of an enlarged tube from sculptural clay. Using a wedge-shaped plaster mold, a plaster cast was then made from the model and subsequently patinated. The second semester was connected by the theme of a monogram designed for the specifics of the given material and processing technology.
