BREATH

In the area of the former pulmonary sanatorium in Kostelec n. Č. l. there is a water tower from 1938. Abandoned, no water. With respect for the original architecture of this technical building, I am trying to open it up to life with my design. The extension on the ground floor, crossed by a path, most often belongs to children. It offers facilities for scout expeditions, school trips and courses. One floor down, a caretaker lives, looking after the object and its visitors. In the water tower itself, where water used to flow through the pipes, people now flow in: up the stairs, up the ladder, to the lookout, to the sleeping cell. This creates a a dynamic space where the public and the private, the old and the new, the permanent and the changeable mix.
