Three Houses with a Glasshouse

Annotation
In Petřiny, three simple cubic houses—for a dentist, a scientist, and a gardener—are linked by a multifunctional glasshouse. The glasshouse serves as a public space, botanical garden, waiting room, and research area. It faces south, has plantings on descending stepped terraces, and its structural columns form a distinctive geometric frame. The gardener’s house is accessed via a bridge through the glasshouse. The upper floor holds bedrooms and a library; the middle floor has a gardener’s workspace with sanitary facilities and quick glasshouse access; the lowest floor contains the living room and kitchen. Large windows blur the interior-exterior boundary, a kitchen window overlooks seedlings, and a terrace sits beside the glasshouse, emphasizing the bond between living, working, and nature.
