ASTER - Stellar House in Prague
ASTER – Star. A building for the 21st century, resonating with the varied architecture around it, linking the spirit of the Star Summer Palace, a neighbouring Neo-Renaissance villa and other structures. Its main features are formal compactness and an impression of mass levitating over a glass-walled ground floor, due to the solidity of the upper floors and to an airiness that draws the visitor inside. In designing this house with studios, I aim for visual communication with the Game Reserve wall, a mature beech mid-plot and Josef Blecha’s villa, which the house’s west facade and terrace face. The raised lower floor also aids interaction with the wooded reserve. The house’s location creates a new harmony with the enclosing garden, providing a space for rest, creativity or socializing.
