FA all around. A workshop on transforming the faculty's surroundings is beginning

The workshop aims to transform the surroundings of the faculty building on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of independent teaching at FA CTU. The joint work of students from all programs and the involvement of foreign experts aims to strengthen cooperation across disciplines and support the ongoing transformation of teaching. The workshop will result in temporary and permanent interventions in public space – from installations and happenings to landscaping solutions and objects.

FA Around continues last year's initiative, The Way to Each Other, which focused on improving the pedestrian route connecting the faculty with the National Technical Library. The event, organized by the Institute of Theory and History of Architecture, generated thirty ideas and sent a signal that the student community can be a driving force for change on the university campus.

The CTU Rector's Office, the City of Prague, and the Prague 6 district will be invited to collaborate on FA Around and Around. Students will work in interdisciplinary teams and collaborate with foreign and local experts. Landscape architects Maike van Stiphout and Zuzana Jančovičová and arborist Markéta Svobodová will participate in the workshop as consultants.

The FA Workshop will kick off with an introductory meeting on Monday, November 10, at 6 p.m. in room 152/153. This will be followed by an intensive three-day workshop, during which participants in mixed teams from various study programs will design specific interventions in the faculty's surroundings with the support of consultants. At the end of November, they will present their proposals and receive feedback for further development, and in January they will finally present them at the opening of the FAZÓNA studio work exhibition. During the spring, selected proposals will be transformed into design-build projects. Students will receive 3 credits for completing the workshop and finalizing the outputs.

The workshop is organized by the Department of Landscape Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague. The guarantors for the individual study programs are Dalibor Hlaváček (A+U), Zuzana Štemberová (KA), and Jitka Aslan (D), and the workshop coordinator is Ivan Plicka.
