Matúš Dulla appointed Professor Emeritus

Professor Matúš Dulla joined the FA CTU as the head of the Department of Theory and History of Architecture in 2008 and served as its head until 2022. He was responsible for the gradual transformation of the department, which under his leadership became one of the leading scientific departments of the faculty.
His long-term professional focus is on the theory and history of 20th century architecture, with an emphasis on the historiography of Slovak and Czechoslovak architecture and on the methodology of scientific research. His teaching focuses on a wide range of topics in the field of architectural history and theory. "The proposal for the honorary title of Professor Emeritus is a recognition not only of Professor Dulla's pedagogical, scientific and publishing activities, but above all of his moral integrity and contribution to the Faculty of Architecture, the field and society," says Petr Vorlík, Head of the Department of Theory and History of Architecture.
Among his extensive publications are Architecture of Slovakia in the 20th Century (with H. Moravčíková, 2002), Architect Emil Belluš (2010), Chapters from the History of Housing (ed., 2014), At the End of the Road: the Crematorium in Bratislava (2017), Houses in Free Verse. Architect Ladislav Lábus (2022). His methodological, popular educational and awareness-raising activities cannot be omitted either, e.g. How to Write a Dissertation in Architecture (2020), Architektúra. A Brief History of Slovakia for Young Readers (2002) or the exhibition of models of architecture for the blind (2014).
Matúš Dulla is the recipient of a number of Slovak and Czech awards – the Dušan Jurkovič Award (1994) and the Martin Kusý Award (2018, 2011 and 2003), the Aurel Stodola Gold Plaque for Merit in Technical Sciences (2010), the Khatam Sofer Medal (2005), the CTU Gold Felber Medal (2016) and the CTU FA Medal (2018). He is a member of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the Slovak section of Docomomo International and a member of the editorial board of the major architectural journals Arch and Architektúra & Urbanismus.
At the Ceremonial Meeting of the Scientific Council of the CTU, new associate professors were also appointed – Tomáš Efler, Hubert Guzik, Luis Miguel Marques, Kateřina Sýsová, Marek Tichý and Jana Zdráhalová.
