Theo Dounas je architekt a pedagog na Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Architecture, kde působí jako vedoucí oddělení excelence, a na Robert Gordon University (RGU), kde vede magisterský program Advanced Architectural Design a má na starosti digitalizaci školy v oblasti architektury a designu. Jeho výzkumné zkušenosti zahrnují blockchain, generativní a parametrické systémy. V současné době řídí projekt Archchain, jehož cílem je vytvořit decentralizovanou sadu nástrojů pro informační modelování budov (BIM) a mechanismů pro AEC průmysl (Architecture, Engineering and Construction). Kromě toho provádí výzkum prostřednictvím řady projektů v oblasti robotické výroby dřevěných komponentů pro budovy.
Theo Dounas is an architect and teacher at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment at RGU where he directs the MSc in Advanced Architectural Design and orchestrates the school’s efforts in digitization. His research experience includes blockchain, generative and parametric systems. He is currently leading the Archchain project, which aims to create a decentralized set of Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and mechanisms for the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry. In addition, he is conducting research through a number of projects in the robotic fabrication of wooden components for buildings.
In his lecture, Theo Dounas will discuss Crypto-Architecture, which is created by integrating architectural design with blockchain and smart technologies. The lecture will explore the prototypes, failures and opportunities of the blockchain world in information modeling, the potential of decentralization for circular economies in architecture, and the semi-magical world of tokenization.
Lectures in the Design Computing 2 course are provided by the Department of Architectural Modelling, and presentations by leading experts are made possible thanks to support from the EuroTeQ Teaching Fund.
