Gijs Rikken (1980, Boxtel, The Netherlands) is a Dutch architect, since 2007 Associate Design Director at MVRDV, where he is responsible for design and project implementation and innovative research. At MVRDV he has been involved in the realisation of a glass farmhouse in Schijndel, crystal houses in Amsterdam and a balancing barn in Suffolk, England. He is currently responsible for the construction of Valley, a 75,000 m2 mixed-use complex in Amsterdam, which boasts three residential towers with green space or a vertical public park.
In his lecture, Gijs Rikken will talk about the Carbonscape tool developed in the MVRDV studio and also about the design of the facade of the Valley project.
