Gijs Joosen (1975) has a comprehensive understanding of parametric design. He is dedicated to understanding the key challegnes of a project and translating a data driven design approach into architecture that is functional, meaningful and beautiful.
Gijs attended the Eindhoven University of Technology where he graduated in both Architecture (Jos Bosman) and Design Systems (Henri Achten). After his graduation in 2003 he started working at ONL, the office of professor ir. Kas Oosterhuis.
Gijs has over 20 years of experience in embedding digital technology in the design process. As a senior architect he was part of the design-teams that broke ground for the realization of internationally renowned projects as the A2 Cockpit, Bálná Budapest and the Liwa Tower.
In 2017 he joined Royal HaskoningDHV, the largest design & engineering firm in the Netherlands. Together with his former ONL colleague Pieter Schreurs they lead the ParametricLAB, a small team of architects and computational designers. In his lecture, Gijs Joosen will talk about the importance of parametric design thinking in architecture.
