First mental aid – basic principles and guidelines – Dominika Drahovzalová
The lecture focuses on psychological first aid, which aims to quickly stabilize the student in crisis so that they can help themself or seek further help. During the workshop, you will learn the basic steps in the psychological stabilization of a person according to WHO, i.e., Prepare, Observe, Listen, and Connect. The lecture will explain how to carry out each step and what to avoid. The steps of psychological first aid will be shown with concrete examples of working with students in an academic setting; the lecture will also include case stories with examples of possible solutions, as well as a list of links to follow-up mental health services and the so-called iconography "What to do when someone is feeling ill."
The workshop explores an important topic: Study-life balance. We will discuss how to do it so that you can study and maintain a healthy lifestyle. We will discuss the four key areas affecting our mental well-being (Physical, Mental, Social, and Spiritual). Together, we will discuss how to manage our time so that it leads to our satisfaction. We will discuss the basics of time management, and each of us will plan our ideal week.
