Gilles Delalex is the head of Muoto, a Paris-based architecture studio engaged in architecture, urbanism, and design, as well as teaching and research. Since its founding, the studio has worked on a diverse range of projects, including master plans, public buildings, housing, and installations. Gilles holds a degree from the University of Art, Design, and Architecture in Helsinki and has also studied in Grenoble, Montreal, Brussels, and Manchester. He currently serves as a professor at the Paris-Malaquais School of Architecture, where he leads the Theory, History, Project (THP) department and co-directs LIAT, a research laboratory focused on infrastructure.
In his lecture, Gilles will present Holy Highway, a collection of texts, projects, and images centered on the highway as the most radical form of public space.
Holy Highway
The highway as an obsession, shedding light on the unconscious processes within architectural practice—a collection of texts, projects, and images centered on the theme of the motorway. This is how one might describe the book, which brings together both unpublished and previously published works by Studio Muoto. The volume includes excerpts from articles, lectures, and notes, enriched with photographs from travels and projects that capture the authors' fixation and the wandering paths of their reflections. The Holy Highway embodies the journey of discovery as a fundamental pillar of architectural sensitivity.
