prof. Ing. arch. Jan Jehlík

Head of the Department of Urban Design

An architect-urbanist who newly interprets the idea of a beautiful city. After graduating from the Czech Technical University in 1985, he worked in Ústí nad Labem, his hometown, in Stavoprojekt (until 1991), where he led the Municipal Development Department for several years. In 1996 he founded his own architectural studio. Since 2007 he has been head of the Department of Urban Design at the FA CTU. He deals with the issue of land use planning and organizes the annual conference Inventory of Urbanism. He dealt with the updating of the territorial plan of Ústí nad Labem, he is a co-author of the Zdar Palace in Ústí nad Labem (2008) and, among other things, he designed a number of Cartesian lapidary villas. He described his conception of contemporary urbanism in his books, eg Obec a sídlo. O krajině, urbanismu a architektuře (2013), nebo v Rukověti urbanismu (2016). In 2015, he participated in the preparation of the Prague Metropolitan Plan.
