PRISON - TÁBOR

Miškovský Vojtěch

Architecture and Urbanism, MA diploma project

Annotation

The thesis builds upon the diploma seminar, during which a suitable location was selected based on analyses, and the topic of prisons was examined in terms of typology, operations, and the broader social and ethical context. The aim was to understand environments with restricted freedom of movement and to seek a balance between security, dignity, and the potential for rehabilitation. This thesis presents how such a prison could function. Emphasis was placed on the quality of the environment, the communal arrangement of housing, and the everyday life of inmates. The project is focused on the target group of women and mothers with children. The construction program is based on the study of current examples of modern prisons and on the applicable standards that set the requirements for this type of facility.
