LOM POŽÁRY II - RECLAMATION

The thesis focuses on the reclamation of the Požáry II limestone quarry and its immediate surroundings. This quarry complex is located in the Prokopské Valley in the southern part of Prague, near the Řeporyje district and the Velká Ohrada housing estate. The work analyzes the current state of the quarry, existing reclamation methods, and their impacts on the landscape. A hypothetical scenario is proposed, based on a combination of natural and guided ecological succession. The aim of the proposal is to identify and design a form of human presence in this environment that is ethical, meaningful, and sustainable in the long termfrom both human and ecological perspectivesseeking a balance between the needs of both. The proposed intervention is therefore based on a sensitive approach to making the landscape accessible as an object of observation and learning. Here, architecture does not serve a human-centered program, but instead acts as a mediator between nature and its interpretation.
