RECYCLING CENTER
Architecture and Urbanism, MA diploma project

Annotation
Infrastructure of circular typology integrated into the urban fabric. The diploma investigates the adaptation of a collection yard / recycling site into a reuse centre, workshops, housing and a community centre. It combines the functions of a collection yard / recycling site, a community space and a centre for material reuse. The aim is to change the perception of waste - from residue to resource. Given the high rate of construction work in Prague and the general phenomenon of Czech do-it-yourself, the reuse centre could be an addition to the range of hobby markets, charity second hand shops and marketplaces. The technical infrastructure is integrated into the urban context while using the existing railway embankment and its morphology, uncovering the Botič stream and redistributing the infrastructure itself. It creates an inclusive location where different user groups and communities can encounter. Architecture creates the framework for shared activity, knowledge sharing and collaboration.
